In the realm of missions, it’s not uncommon to hear stories filled with powerful encounters—miraculous breakthroughs, emotional altar calls, supernatural moments that leave people in awe. These experiences can be beautiful, transformative, and deeply meaningful. But here’s the truth I’ve learned through years of ministry and cross-cultural missions:
Encounters are powerful, but they’re not enough to sustain you.
Many believers build their entire faith or missional purpose around divine moments—whether it was a healing, a vision, or a powerful time in worship. But encounters were never meant to be the foundation of your spiritual life. They are invitations—not sustainers.
📖 In Scripture, we see people like Paul, Moses, and the disciples experience life-changing moments with God. But what followed was even more important: discipleship, obedience, surrender, and deep engagement with the Word.
Jesus Himself had a mountain-top moment with Peter, James, and John during the transfiguration (Matthew 17:1–9). Yet what did He do after that? He led them back down the mountain to continue serving, teaching, and preparing them for what was to come.
In Matthew 4:4, Jesus declared that we live not by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Not by feelings. Not by hype. Not by emotionalism. Only the Word can sustain us when the emotion fades.
As we train missionaries and leaders through The Ash Exchange and B.R.I.D.G.E. Nations, we prioritize:
-
Sound doctrine over spiritual trends
-
Biblical literacy over hype
-
Discipleship over emotional moments
We don’t just want people to be stirred—we want them to be rooted.
And that’s why I’m inviting you to partner with us as we prepare for missions in Cameroon and Rwanda. Our goal is to equip leaders and believers with truth that outlasts the moment and transforms communities for generations.
Would you consider sowing into this next mission?
