“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” – Matthew 28:19 (ESV)
When I look at this picture from my childhood, one thing stands out—I’ve always been surrounded by people from various backgrounds. Even as a child, God was preparing me to walk in spaces where I would often be the minority, not just in race but in thought, faith, and purpose. He positioned me as a change agent—to educate, enhance, and bring transformation to people, places, and nations.
But let’s be honest—this journey has not always been easy. There have been times when I’ve had to educate others who look like me about the reality of walking into environments where no one shares my background. There have been moments of frustration when I’ve had to serve without expectation, pouring into others without looking for something in return.
Yet, in all of this, I’ve come to understand something deeper: our purpose in Christ is greater than our personal comfort. It’s not about our own fulfillment, but about yielding to His call to be a vessel for His kingdom.
A Heart for the Marginalized and the Missioned
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18 (ESV)
When I reflect on my journey, I see why I’ve never fit into cliques. I understand why I’m passionate about standing up for those who are overlooked, marginalized, and underestimated. God has strategically placed me in spaces to glean, reciprocate, and pour. Recognizing the season I am in—whether it’s a season of learning, giving, or leading—has helped me steward these experiences and relationships well.
God is reminding me now, more than ever, that my identity in Him outranks everything else. He created me uniquely—not just for my own sake, but so that I could communicate, engage, and enter spaces that others may not be equipped for.
The Mission Field is Everywhere
“Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples!” – Psalm 96:3 (ESV)
This is the heart of missions—being willing to enter new spaces, share the Gospel, and impact communities in both word and deed. Missions is not just about traveling to different countries; it’s about making yourself available for God’s use wherever He calls you. It’s about saying, “Here I am, Lord, send me” (Isaiah 6:8).
But this work cannot be done alone. It takes partnership. It takes prayer. It takes a collective effort to bring transformation to people, places, and cultures that need to experience the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
